Mountain Bike Rides In The Peak District & Eight Classic Walks / Peak Summits - Vertebrate Publishing
Vertebrate have long been producing innovative products. I like the latest – a series of incredibly lightweight, water and tear proof fold away multi-maps for mountain biking and classic walks in the Peak District. Each multi-map is roughly 2 feet by 1.5 feet and double sided.
Mountain Bike Rides In The Peak District
Eight Classic Walks / Peak Summits
The MTB version features an overall map of the Peak District with 8 miniature maps detailing 8 routes of varying lengths and grades. Each of the mini-maps takes up two of the fold up panels so it is very easy to fold the whole thing up so that your chosen route is displayed. The map can then be folded and ticked into a back pocket very easily. In addition to the mini-map of your route the is a host of supporting information including all the usual essentials (distance, ascent, start and finish points, grid ref’s, parking, cafes and pubs), a chatty intro, and a detailed set of directions.
An extract from Mountain Bike Rides In The Peak District
The Classic Walks version is virtually exactly the same, but features 8 walks that take you to a summit of a hill in the Peak District instead of on a bike ride. Effectively they are very lightweight guidebooks, but have the added advantage of being always open on the right page! They retail at £5.95 (MTB) and £6.95 (Walks) which is significantly cheaper than their guidebook counterparts. For this reason alone I think that they will make excellent options for visiting bikers and walkers who may only be in the area for a weekend from time to time and not want to invest £30 or £40. They will also make excellent stocking fillers.
