Down Jacket: TNF Nuptse

7th Nov 2005

Made of Z-Ripstop nylon and 700 fill power down it is very lightweight and compressible. A quick explanation of terms here: One ounce of this down expands to fill a volume of 700 cubic inches. It features a roll up, single skin hood to keep out the wind (jackets with fitted down hoods can be very frustrating when you don't need the hood up), fleece lined pockets (very nice when out and about, but not so great when bouldering and developing nicks and tears on the hands as they catch something rotten!), a single zipped inside pocket, a draw-string waist, Velcro adjustable cuffs with glove attachments and weighs 680g. In addition it will zip into other TNF jackets as a great inner layer!

Retailing at £144.99 it's a good value, no-whistles-and-bells jacket that does exactly what a down jacket should do - keep you warm and comfortable. I've been wearing mine out and about in town and the Peak for a few weeks and have yet to find a single reason to complain about any of its features. Furthermore it looks very smart (at least it does so far...).

It is also available in some (so I'm told) gorgeous colours for women including brownie (dark chocolaty brown) and berry swirl (deep pink).
