ShAFF Presents: Like A Lion

29th Nov 2011 @ 20:15

We've raided the SHAFF archives.
During November the Showroom will be screening two cracking evenings of films:

Thursday 10th November – 20.15
ShAFF Presents - An Evening Of Adventurous Continental Crossings
Coast To Coast
In the spirit of the early aviation pioneers, Mike Blyth and Olivier Aubert push the envelope with groundbreaking flying adventures. They made this journey from one coast to another: between these coasts lies Africa. In Africa lies the heart of this film, beating at the pace of a rhythmic blues song like the wings of a bird in full flight. Winner of 12 awards including Best Adventure Film, Telluride 2007.
Alone Across Australia – 52mins
Mountain Adventure Winner 2004. Directed by John Muir & Ian Darling. In 2001 one of the world's most accomplished climbers and adventurers, Jon Muir, began a 2,500 kilometre odyssey to cross Australia from the South to the North coast on foot. For 128 days, Jon and his dog Seraphine survived entirely off the land - hunting and gathering along the way. Jon was taxed to the limit physically and emotionally. Often close to despair, he drew on his instinct for survival, his deep understanding of the land and his remarkable inner strength. Voted one of the "20 Best Adventure films of All time" Men's Journal Magazine, USA, and winner of over 70 international awards!

Tuesday 29th November – 20.15
ShAFF Presents – An Extraordinary Action Documentary On An Extraordinary Skier
Like A Lion – 90mins
the true story of legendary skier Tanner Hall
an Eric Iberg film
A documentary feature film about the winningest and most controversial skier of the last decade, LIKE A LION tells a tremendous story of adversity and self-confidence, tragedy and triumph. Following the high-risk, high-adrenaline life of seven-time ESPN X-Games Gold medalist Tanner Hall, LIKE A LION is a film that goes beyond skiing, beyond action sports stardom, beyond the rock-star cliches to examine that special courage that allows the best of us to continually comeback from life’s toughest blows.

Both evenings will be located in Showroom 5. Showroom 5 is not a cinema screen with tiered seating, but is fully equipped with comfortable chairs, HD projection with a high quality sound system.
Tickets: £6 and £5.
