The North Face Single Track Hayasa Shoes

2nd Oct 2012

TNF Single Track Hayasa

TNF's amazingly light weight Single Track Hayasa trainers perform really well.

Their tread is good for trail running and I've been on all sorts of terrain on them and felt happy with flexibility for ease of running and protection of  my feet. They have just about coped with some more serious fell running in lots of mud, and in wet grass but they don't get the best grip, but otherwise a good tread. What I have been really impressed with is the heel support and foot protection that the trainer gives while still being ultra light and flexible. Also after many good long runs I've not had any bruises on the soles of my feet.

I've used the Hayasas for a couple of sprint triathlons on top of my usual training and, with retro fitted quick release laces, they have  been ideal. They coped with soggy feet and and gave the airiness I like, they were delightfully lightweight and gave the support I needed to carry those tired old legs. No turned ankles at all.

Their lightness (the pair weigh an incredible 412g) also mean that they dry pretty quickly which is really good when you're relying on them for training and every day wear. In fact I've worn them for a wide range of activities such as rafting and trail walking in hot weather and they have proved great all rounders as well as having the technical features of a good trail running shoe.

They retail at £100.

Here's the official notes on the shoes from The North Face website.

The lightest, fastest running shoes we have ever built, The North Face Women’s Single-Track Hayasa gives trail runners superb support and response. These new shoes’ ultra-lightweight construction takes in Snake Plate™ and Cradle technology for support and cushioning in the forefoot and heel areas, reducing the impact on feet over any terrain without sacrificing flexibility. A Tenacious™ Grip outsole contributes super-sticky traction to keep runners sure-footed, while a protective toecap enhances resistance to bumps and pressure. Tested to the limit with legendary ultra-runner Tsuyoshi Kaburaki. The North Face Women’s Single-Track Hayasa is a trail shoe that gives serious athletes the sensitive feel and supreme technical performance they demand.
