Programming A Film Festival
12th Dec 2013
A few days ago was Dec 1st, the deadline for submissions for the Sheffield Adventure Film Festival. When ShAFF started out nearly 9 years ago we simply rented films from other more established festivals and that was it. We quickly realised that this was unsustainable financially, and that it was stifling creatively, so we phased out the straight rental, invited submissions, and went-a-looking ourselves. This opened up a whole new world of potential films and meant that we could encourage local filmmakers to submit their projects as well as find some gems that hadn't been discovered by other festivals.
