Mountain Hardwear Mesa Pant

14th Feb 2012

A simple, but effective pair of trousers which have stood up to everything I have thrown at them here in the UK, but sound as if they are made for jungle trekking! Comfortable and quick drying, they are a good fit (I'm tall and skinny). Still shedding water nicely and reasonably wind resistant. Retail at around £50 and a bargain at this price. My one complaint - and this is bring pretty picky - is the size of the pockets. If I put my phone into one of the main pockets it tends to rotate so that the long side is facing down. Not strictly speaking a problem until you want to remove it in a hurry at which point you realise that the pocket is virtually exactly the same size as the phone is long, and that it is jammed in there. Not really Mountain Hardwear's fault I suppose, but it is a fairly standard sized smart-phone so maybe something they could think about in future :-). I do like the fact that the belt is inside a sleeve so doesn't get caught on harnesses or rucksacks, making it more comfortable to wear, especially on longer walks.
