Wed 20th May 09 New Kids Bouldering Comp @ Cliffhanger
Alpkit have built a climbing wall just for the kids. Dust off your trainers, put some magic dust on your fingers and up you go. They will be running a fun children's competition at Cliffhanger 2009 open to any child aged 4-8, though younger climbers can 'have a go'. The more times you fall off the less points you'll receive and the children with the highest scores at the end of the weekend will crowned the Champions of the Bloc. Every child that enters the comp will receive a prize. Entry is free but every child that enters must be accompanied by an adult.
Tue 19th May 09 Civic Leaders Drive Each Other Up The Wall
Civic leaders drive each other up the wall in Cliffhanger launch mission.
A rather unlikely climbing partnership marks the countdown to one of Sheffield's most eagerly anticipated summer events next week.
Sheffield City Council leader Councillor Paul Scriven - who freely admits he's scared of heights - will be putting his trust in the hands of climbing enthusiast and Sheffield Hallam University vice-chancellor Philip Jones as he gets a crash course in scaling the world's biggest ‘bouldering' wall to mark the start of preparation for the massive Cliffhanger event.
Mon 18th May 09 Give Blood At Cliffhanger
The National Blood Service will be at Cliffhanger (Sat & Sun).
If you would like to give blood, the bloodmobile will be open 9:30am-12:30pm/1:30pm-5:00pm. You can either book your appointment in advance by calling 0845 7 711 711, or just pop along on the day.
Representatives from the National Blood Service will also be on site to answer any questions you may have about giving blood. Look out for our recruitment tent and bloodmobile.
In Sheffield around 300 donations are needed each week to ensure hospitals have the blood they need to carry out lifesaving operations and other procedures. People suffering from a serious blood disease such as leukaemia, someone undergoing surgery, or an accident and emergency case can all benefit.
Do something amazing at Cliffhanger.
