Some things are beyond imagination. When Jerry Gore describes life clinging to a 4,000ft cliff in sub-zero temperatures in one of the remotest corners of the earth, pure white virgin territory, the mind reels at trying to conjure up the image. Yet this is only one of two worlds that Jerry frequently inhabits. His other world is definitely one we all know: the office, board meetings, deadlines and daily challenges.

Beyond Imagination is Jerry's own high energy look at life in the vertical, sharing unique insights taken from over 25 years of international mountaineering to emphasize key points that he has found essential in the business world. Having succeeded in both environments he is able draw on a unique career that encompasses a huge range of experiences from receiving a direct lightning strike on a mountain top, to creating an annual marketing plan for an industry leader.
An
expedition to a remote peak requires detailed planning, and strong team
leadership. The ability to prioritise and consistently change
as the venture unfolds are prerequisites. Failure is a given, as climbing
is all about learning, just as it is in the office world. Using powerful
digital imagery (slides and video footage) to emphasize and motivate,
Jerry plunges his audience into the extreme end of mountaineering - Big
Wall climbing - defined by climbers as sheer sweeps of rock more than
1,000ft high, which necessitate living in hanging tents with only fresh
air for company.
Big Walls are a technical challenge, a head game, where only clear focus and self-belief will get you through. You are in a dangerous situation, you are gradually losing strength in your arms, yet you have to keep going. There is no-one to rescue you, and you survive or fail solely on your merits. Direct parallels are drawn with the heady, fast-moving life of modern business as Jerry frequently brings the listener back down to earth with winning strategies that have allowed him to succeed against the odds.
