Dave is a professional climber living in
Scotland who participates
in most climbing disciplines at an elite level ('Britain's best all-rounder',
On The Edge, 2003). In the past he has lectured

His images
feature a tour of many beautiful and remote areas of the Scottish
highlands and islands, as well as many of Europe's best climbing
venues. He explores his personal motivations and rewards in climbing
at his limit and describe the processes involved in preparing for
his ascents. He also has video footage of some of his hardest climbs |
Sports Science:
Dave has a BSc Hons in Physiology and Sports
Science and is currently completing postgraduate study in this area. He
has great personal interest in how sports science fits into the world
of sport in general and specifically climbing. It has been a long term
ambition of Dave's to communicate the ideas he has developed through study
and experience as an athlete to enjoyment and success in sport. He has
several lectures in this area, which consist of the following (or combinations
of these) and can be specifically directed at climbers or sport in general:
- Enjoyment - Why are we doing this?
- Motivation - Some perspectives from
both sides of the motivational mountain
- Training - Good principle, bad word!
- Tactics - An eye-opener
