Once
again Heason Events has arranged an exciting line up of multimedia
evenings to liven up the dark Sheffield winter evenings. Unless
otherwise stated each event will feature a 5 minute audio
visual by a well known photographer, a 10 minute video, a
20 minute support lecture, a one hour live performance by
a very well known climber or mountaineer and a raffle during
the half time break. There is a bar. Please arrive by 7.30
for an 8pm start.

Simon
Yates – Beyond The Void. In a career spanning twenty
years Simon Yates’ climbing and travelling has taken
him from Alaska in the west to Australia in the east, from
the Canadian Arctic in the north to the tip of South America.
He first came to prominence as a mountaineer in 1985 after
the first ascent of the West Face of Siula Grande in the Peruvian
Andes and the ensuing epic descent described in the book Touching
the Void and the 2003 BAFTA wining docu-drama of the same
name. In this lecture Simon will take a humorous and philosophical
look at some of the more notable experiences over his years
as a mountaineer, accompanied by a stunning selection of slides
collected during his travels |
